N Chlorophthalimideis a white coloured powder which is an anhydrous acetic acid that can be synthesized by reacting phthalimide with t-butyl hypochlorite, water and t-butyl alcohol.Its boiling point is 315 degree Celsius and a melting point nearly equal to 188 degree Celsius. Its aqueous solution gives the vapour at a temperature of 417.15 Kelvin. N Chlorophthalimide has a molecular formula C8H4ClNO2 with a chemical weight 181.57 grams per mol.It can be used for the synthesis of compounds like α-amino acetal, vicinal diamine and 3-methylthio oxindoles. It is a corrosive chemical which may cause skin irritation and leads to serious eye damage due to exposure.
