Indole-3-Acetic Acid can be synthesized in presence of base at around 250 degrees Celsius by reacting indole with glycolic acid. It is a white colored water insoluble solid which shows solubility in ethanol. This compound is most commonly utilized as a plant hormone in fertilizers which belongs to class of auxins. Indole-3-Acetic Acid has molecular formula C10H9NO2 with molar mass of 175.19 g/mol having melting point range of 168 to 170 degrees Celsius. It is known to play an important role in better stress tolerance of plants and inhibiting photorespiratory dependant cell death.
